Pale Leo – Part I

Pale Leo – Part I

Three months ago, I went to see my doc to have him pop the hood and do my annual check-up/blood work.  To my surprise, though perhaps not to those around me, he recommended I get more exercise and, "like all of us, you need to lose some weight." Me? How is that possible?  I'm svelte, lithe, fashi-oh my God I'm almost 40 and wearing a size 38 jeans, aren't I? Thus began a bout of honest introspection.  Am I really that big?  Surely someone would've told me if I'd ballooned into a gelatinous suburbanite cliché,…Read more …
Maybe We Should Go Back?

Maybe We Should Go Back?

Ahoy there. All that time spent browsing, uploading, customizing, polishing...  And in the end I still hated the way it looked.  So much so that I let it all go, and stopped writing completely.  I suppose, at the time, I was enamored with the concept of being both published in print and having a professional-looking blog.  So naturally I needed a sleek new Wordpress theme that would convey my hilarious takes on modern life with the proper style and verve... But who am I trying to kid. Trees around the world breathed a collective sigh of…Read more …
We Interrupt the Dew Report For This…

We Interrupt the Dew Report For This…

The rumors are once again true. I have purchased a house. Er, I think. I mean, we've been approved for the total mortgage loan, and signed/initialed an awful lot of paperwork, and we're meeting with "design center" people next Wednesday to discuss things like cabinet wood, floor tiles and paint color... All of these things would lead me to believe that we've actually bought a house. Well, that and we keep getting these pamphlets that begin with "Congratulations!" which seems a rather promising indicia of actually purchasing something as well. Outside of nursery…Read more …
The Break of Data

The Break of Data

*bzzzt....bzzzt....bzzzt* goes the cell phone on the nightstand. One eye creaks open and stares at the source of the noise, folded neurons begin to once again flower into activity. See that thing? It's a phone. The noise it's making is called a "ring." It means someone is trying to get in touch with you. Naturally, this synaptic process takes longer than four ring pulses, and by the time the phone is lifted from the nightstand the call has already gone to voicemail. Dammit. Well, maybe it wasn't that important. Wait. See? If it…Read more …
This Thing On?

This Thing On?

Hey there bleuxpee. Four months later, and I'm attempting to step back up to the mic and rock it one time. So what's cookin? Well, we're being forced to move out of our house at the end of next month. Seems the owners decided to sell it, and did so with a quickness. (To the tune of $290,000. The Heights is a ridiculous place to buy a house.) As a matter of fact, I'm sitting at my dining room table right now listening to several contractors harumpf in my kitchen over spreadsheet lists…Read more …
Aliens in the Garden

Aliens in the Garden

No one told me that Nanner flowers were so goddamn scary... It's rather unsettling to encounter that horrid pink thing in the morning, particularly when you're not expecting it... (That's what she said.) j.s.Read more …
“Schpidah!”

“Schpidah!”

It appears a Thanagarian Snare Beast has taken up residence in the barbecue grill in that picture. Not the little "Old Smokey" bbq. Not the covered one behind it either. The big one, right up front, with the fern in it. And no, I don't know why I keep a fern in the BBQ. Come to think of it, I don't know why I have three BBQ pits either. *shrug* I live in Texas. Let's move on. So every single morning this week, as I'm leaving the house and mentally preparing myself for…Read more …

Ahoy There.

Ahoy There.

Ahoy there. Apologies for the long hiatus. Obviously there's been a lot happening of late and only recently have things quieted down enough for me to update. (To be honest, I started this post about 3 weeks ago and it's been taunting me from the "Edit" bin since then.) So the Facebook updates are true...I'm totally married now. Made of Unobtanium The pictures of said wedding have yet to be sent back to us, but I do have this... Obviously someone flipped on the Improbability Drive. After said wedding/honeymoon, our days have been…Read more …
